My Students

My students, grades K - 5, attend music twice per week for 30 minute sessions on an alternating week schedule. My students love making music using a variety of pitched, and non-pitched, instruments. My students enjoy singing, dancing, and participating in a variety of movement activities. My students also enjoy composing music using their chromebooks!

My Project

When my students enter the music room, the first thing they must do is find their "seats." However, the music room does not have desks or chairs, which means the students must sit on the floor. During the winter months, the floor is often wet and cold from the students' snow boots. A cold, wet floor is neither comfortable to sit on, nor does it provide a conducive learning environment.

The students deserve the absolute best for a brighter way to play, share, learn, and grow!

Providing surf desks for my students would allow a more successful and dynamic learning environment. Surf desks, which are both a seat and a surface, will allow my students to work comfortably on the floor. Surf desks are also mobile, providing flexible seating, allowing students to quickly and easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole.

Surf desks will be the perfect addition to our music classroom and collaborative learning environment!
