This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever visited a place that made you feel like you could do anything? That is the feeling I hope to capture for my students. I am a teacher of early childhood education in the capital of South Carolina.
Our students are a part of a community of inspiring, diverse, talented, and inquisitive children.
Our Title I school is a neighborhood school located in one of the largest districts in the state.
Students are kinesthetic and have a love for reading integrated with the arts to involve technology, music, and dancing. We celebrate diversity as each student has a different personality, talent, and style that adds character to the classroom and makes them special; one of the main reasons I love being an educator.
My Project
The closing of school because of the COVID-19 virus has left students at my elementary school without materials they would usually have access to throughout the typical school day.
I am proposing "Providing Care during COVID" to provide children a range of activities to complete throughout this challenging time.
I would like for students to read chapter books regarding Science and Friendship through the adventures of Frog and Toad. Each day after students have read a chapter, they will journal in blank books to illustrate and provide their own interpretation or perspective of the content they have read. At the conclusion of the book, students will have great memories in their own personal book.
