Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach third, fourth, and fifth graders in a self-contained special education classroom. Many of my students have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or have other intellectual disabilities. My classroom is part of a wider school program called the STARS program where students and teachers achieve real success.
My students are shining stars that love to learn.
Every student has a unique set of strengths and challenges. I enjoy their unique personalities every day. They have brought me joy.
My Project
The regular education students in my district have 1:1 access to technology through the use of programs on Chromebooks. The students in my special education classroom do not. My colleagues and I borrow extra Chromebooks from the regular education teachers to share among our classrooms. As such, our students do not have the same amount of access as their non-disabled peers.
All students have different educational needs and technology is a vehicle that can help reach those needs.
Many of my students use web-based applications and programs every day. Your contribution to our campaign will help provide access to essential educational programming for a deserving population of students.
