My students need a classroom environment with the proper tools for instruction without distractions from dust that is making them sneeze and attend to the tissue box.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Save us from dust and sneezing! We need your help to make our learning environment productive and safe. Washing the chalkboard constantly daily takes up time and is very messy. Cheap chalk also does not help and poor chalk erasers are even worse. It just seems to never get clean!
My students are seventh graders in a low poverty income area in New York.
There are 1,600 students in our school and all the students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. They are very outgoing students and full of energy. They love to learn especially when the lesson is colorful, interactive and engaging.
My Project
Replacing the chalk boards with white boards would create an interactive classroom environment without distractions. White boards would support delivering instruction with vivid colors and enhance note taking for the students. Students will be able to participate in the lesson by writing on the white boards and sharing their results with the entire class. Clear white boards would help reduce time of cleaning chalk boards that create dust and messy water. Students will be able to clean the white boards as a classroom job that can be completed in between classroom periods without any mess of water buckets and sponges.
Donations to this project will help my students learn in a environment that is safe, engaging and interactive.
They will also help myself in delivering instruction. An old chalkboard is not inviting to students and especially those who are allergic to dust. Help me make my classroom inviting to all students so they can learn in an environment with the utmost support!
