My Students

OUR school is an all-girls Division 1 STEM high school that is free and open to all students living within the Los Angeles Unified School District. The school provides the students with a path to college in science, technology, engineering, and math.

The student population is a diverse group of focused, driven and curious students that support and challenge one another.

The students are actively engaged in learning, both within the classroom and outside of it, and are very excited to learn about architecture and design.

My Project

My students are engineering for social good. They have been working with community partners and using a design thinking process to determine the best physical technologies to move forward with. They have decided upon what they will be designing and engineering, and now they will determine how to do it.

The Bluetooth speakers will enable students to hear tutorial videos, and the Legos will allow students to quickly prototype the products they are designing.

Quick prototyping is an essential part of the process they are learning, allowing them to quickly try out many design ideas in a short period of time so that they can land upon the best idea more quickly.
