My class is a very unique group of students with disabilities ranging from mild to moderate or severe. My students have cognitive and communication deficits as well as Autism.
We live in a rural community where the poverty rate is substantially high and funding is extremely limited.
Robert M. Hensel once said, "There is no greater disability in society than the inability to see a person as more."
This is our class motto and the message we spread each and every day. My students are working hard to achieve their goals and gain the skills necessary for transition after high school.
My Project
We are in desperate need of a new laminator to laminate our daily lessons and hands-on manipulatives. With the current pandemic, it is extremely important to have manipulatives that can be sanitized and disinfected daily.
With the diverse population of students that I have in my classroom, we use a great deal of individualized lessons for each student.
Many of the resources are made with construction paper, printed computer paper, and lined notebook paper. We need a protective layer of laminate on each piece of paper to withstand daily use as well as wear and tear.
