Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our class is a master puzzle. Each one of us are unique in our own way. We like to say, we all fit together. Our class is located in a Title I one school that consist of high school students with various intellectual, physical, and learning disabilities. My goal is for each student to exit high school with the skills and knowledge to be self-sufficient individuals in the home, community, and work environment. Although every student in my class has his/her own challenges, they all work hard. Our class motto is "ABC"... Any Body Can!!! and "Not Yet"!!! We encourage each that anybody can learn, become successful, obtain goals and live life to the fullest. We also encourage each other when we are faced with challenges to say "Not Yet". When a student use the phrase "I can't" or "I don't understand", we all say aloud "not yet". My students are very supportive of each other and I believe their support helps each other grow to higher levels. My students have proven to learn best with hands on activities and lessons that are related to real-life situations. Instructional learning consists of reading, basic math, daily living, household management, and careers.

My Project

We are grasping the "New Way" of learning, Virtual Learning. Incorporating virtual learning into the classroom, we are faced with technology clashing giving a loud, feedback noise that interferes with instruction. If each student is equipped with a headset, this will eliminate the feedback. Students will also be able to use the headsets at home to eliminate noise in the home during virtual learning. We are also very cautious in staying safe and limiting contact with each other. A desk shield will allow students to communicate safely with the teacher.
