My students need iPad glass screen protectors and styluses for iPads. The screen protectors will help prevent the original screen from breaking should a student accidentally drop an iPad and styluses prevent scratches.
How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed? A review of student grades and school-wide data indicate that students with disabilities are the lowest performing sub-group at our school.
The students in my classroom are students with learning and emotional disabilities.
Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school. Our classes serve students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities.
The typical student in my class reads at a second grade level and many struggle with basic phonics and number sense. The majority of our students are Native American. The opportunity and achievement gaps are apparent among our student population. Special education teachers are expected to deliver excellent instruction often without the requisite tools to teach our students.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where they will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! We need tempered glass iPad screen protectors to keep the original screens free from scratches and from possibly breaking should they be dropped accidentally.
By providing extra protection for our iPads, the students will be freer to move around in the classroom to collaborate and work together on projects instead of sitting at a desk all of the time.
One of the skills our students need is the ability to collaborate and work with others on projects. This extra layer of protection will certainly give this teacher "peace of mind" knowing that there is less chance that we will lose a precious iPad due to a broken screen.
