Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a variety of cultures, backgrounds, home situations and various income levels. About half of my students are English Language Learners. Together they make a creative, thoughtful, inquisitive and fun classroom community. Their clever questions sometimes challenge even me and these 8 and 9 year old children inspire me daily.
Each student is curious and creative, with their own interests- the one thing that engages these 21st-century learners every time (with no hesitation) is technology!
You can see their interest and confidence soar when completing projects on the computer or completing computer-based assessments that show them immediate feedback and growth.
They have faced challenges over the last year from Hurricane Harvey, and some had family and friends affected by the tragedy at Santa Fe High School. It hasn't been an easy year for many in this group. But, if you could walk in, you would not know it. Their attitudes and enthusiasm are contagious.
My Project
Our class has been funded for 10 NEW Fire 8 HD Tablets. We are so excited and grateful!
Now, we need to protect our tablets with covers and screen protectors!
My 3rd graders will be using these tablets almost daily to support their reading and research goals. We want to keep them in great shape for a long time. Student engagement soars with use of technology and we have been very blessed to have been funded the ten Fire HD 8 Tablets. It is important to not only keep these tablets safe, but teach the children the importance of doing so also.
