This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As teachers of F. Elementary School, our hearts were broken when hearing about the loss of so many innocent lives. Our students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, we are looking to keep things safe and ensure their security.

In a small town we often think nothing horrible will ever happen.

In light of recent tragedy, we believe there is more we can do to protect those under our care.

My Project

Given recent events, as educators, we are concerned about school safety. Our students are our top priority. This project will provide 11 teachers with The Barracuda Defense system to use in their classrooms in the event of a lockdown.

"Safety is a full-time job-don't make it a part-time practice."

At F.E.S. we regularly practice lockdown drills and make students and staff aware of the necessary procedures to help ensure safety. Much of our strategy currently relies on the "out-of-sight" concept. We would like to enhance our safety measures with the addition of The Barracuda Defense System. The system would not only make it more difficult for an intruder to gain access to our classrooms, but give an overall sense of security to everyone.
