The students this project will benefit are from our Beginning Band, Concert Band, and beginning level drumming course.
The students in these classes are an absolute blast to teach.
They come from all different backgrounds, and a wide range of skill levels, but they are overwhelmingly excited about learning how to play music.
The bands put on several performances throughout the year, including concerts, parades and festivals. Both levels of band have achieved superior rankings at festival and perform at a very high level.
The drumming elective students are almost all beginners in the world of music. We hope their experience in this class enriches their lives with a deeper appreciation of music, and maybe even inspires some of them to explore music more seriously down the road.
My Project
We were fortunate enough to receive some new marching equipment through a grant last year. We use this equipment for outdoor concerts and community parades. Our beginners drumming class also learns the basics of drumming on this equipment in rehearsals.
The new drums are fantastic, but without the proper protection they will deteriorate quickly with the heavy use of middle school students.
My hope is to make sure that these drums last for years. These cases will go a long way to extending their life span so that class after class of students will get to use these drums and sound their best.
