Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Title I campus located in Pasadena, which is an overall Title I district. Many of my students do not have the opportunity to go to Pre-K. As our campus does not have a program and they would have to attend another school. These programs at other campuses fill up very quickly.
Many of our students were impacted by Hurricane Harvey this past August/September 2017, and have had their homes and lives altered in unforeseeable ways.
Where there should have been the excitement for starting Kindergarten, other feelings overtook these families and kiddos.
My students were in school for four days before they were out for two weeks. Some lost everything and are still not in their home at this time. The school was able to give them back some sense of normalcy and safety. Their resiliency and desire to still learn is astonishing.
Overall, we are an amazing classroom family, and use our growth mindset to strive to be the best we can be.
My Project
Our iPads have been a blessing in our classroom. I have seen my students more comfortable, more engaged, and more successful on their daily math and reading programs. Having technology that students can relate to is crucial.
Protecting this valuable tool that has been a secret weapon to student success is critical.
This LocknCharge iQ 10 Charging Box will provide us the best way to keep our devices safe, locked up, and charged. Our iPads are too valuable in not only monetary ways, but in student success to be left lying around when no one is there to watch over them. Leaving them locked up when they are not in use or when we are not in school will aid in any of them taking an unwanted and unfortunate field trip by an individual. A case protects our devices from Kindergarten “life happens” moments, and a lock box could save our devices from walking away.
