Props to Make Story Time in the Library Come Alive
My students need some bean bags, felt stories, and puppets that will jazz up storytime in the library, such as felt story sets and hand puppets.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of the students at my school do not have the opportunity to experience artistic productions available to them. I cannot bring the ballet or the opera to my students, but I can provide them with dynamic story times that stir their imaginations and lead to a love of books and literature.
I teach at a Pre-K -8 public school.
For many of the students, English is not the primary language spoken at home. As English is their second language, sometimes it presents a challenge for them. One of the most efficient ways to engage student learning is to get them enthusiastic about the subject they are learning.
My Project
Stories capture the imagination, and vivid props keep students engaged. With supplies like hand puppets and felt puppets to offer the students visual stimulation in addition to the auditory process of the story, my goal is to help students retain vocabulary and story concepts. The more of the senses that are engaged in a lesson will more fully involve the student in the learning process. My goal is to give young students a good, strong foundation in literacy. I am also requesting simple bean bags for students with limited attention spans. Having the bean bags to hold on to and squeeze will provide these students an outlet for their restlessness, helping them to better focus on the story time activity.
The story time supplies I am requesting will be used year after year to make story time more vibrant for the children at my school.
Teaching children at an early age that the library is a happy place to be will lead to a life-long love of reading and learning, which will contribute to literate citizens who successfully contribute to the good of society.
