With a combination 2/3 grade classroom this year, I need new innovative, exciting, and high interest materials to achieve academic success with the Common Core State Standards. My students are very enthusiastic learners and these materials will help them to further develop their love for learning.
My second and third grade students make up a heterogeneous population with varying ethnicity's, socio-economic, and learning needs.
Our school does not qualify for funding, so we have to rely on donations or funding from teachers' own paychecks for all our classroom supplies. My students are highly motivated and it is important that I continue to build their love and excitement for learning in order to strengthen the foundation they will need to be successful in their futures.
My Project
The state of California has adopted the Common Core State Standards Initiative and as a California educator this directly impacts the way I teach. The Lakeshore materials listed for this project are essential for center type cooperative learning. I have requested Daily Comprehension Common Core Practice Journals, Writing Practice Common Core Journals, and Common Core Math Practice Cards that students can use for small group learning as well as independently. Each of the materials requested are student materials for literacy and math Common Core State Standard activities. Each item requested will promote deep understanding of reading comprehension, writing across genres, and will deepen math number sense and problem solving skills.
All the materials for this project will help me to effectively implement the Common Core State ELA and Math Standards within my very challenging multi-aged and multi-ability leveled classroom.
The materials will insure that students are practicing the skills needed to make them ready for all that they my encounter in their future academics and adult lives. Your donations are much appreciated. Thank you very much!
