My students need dry-erase markers, post it notes, 2 dolls, and a wooden doll high chair.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students go to school on the West side of Chicago. They come from low-income homes that want the best for their children but don't have the resources to assist in their education. Since funding is low in the schools, the students are at more of a disadvantage than other schools. My students love to go to centers and explore, but we simply don't have enough materials for various centers for them to go to. They love reading, science, social studies, mathematics and likes to draw what they learned after each lesson.
Can you imagine not having enough classroom materials before the school year starts? Well that's what our reality is right now! We need materials in order for the students to go to the reading and writing centers. My students love all subjects, but we need materials!
By having the dry-erase markers my students need will enable them to learn how to write by tracing their dry-erase boards.
They have writing boards but don't have the dry-erase markers to use with them. All of my students love to write on sticky notes to write a message or to draw something for their friends. My students love to write and since we are promoting writers this school year we need these writing supplies in order for the students to get started. We need the wooden high chair and dolls for the reading centers because the students want to have dolls so that they can read to them. My students love to read and by having the dolls and high chair will promote a life time of readers in my class.
By supporting this project, you will be giving my students the opportunity to promote their reading & writing this 2018-2019 school year. My preschoolers shouldn't be limited to what they can experience just because of their circumstance, but should be exposed to various learning materials. They should excel in reading & writing with learning materials to help them become future leaders of tomorrow. My students learn from doing and having materials will promote their learning.
