Help me give my students a variety of awesome recess equipment to help promote physical exercise, problem solving, and social skills during their recesses!
Meet the Bobcats, where the students come to school each day ready for fun and learning! This is the age where the kids are so excited to come to school and have a thirst for knowledge.
I have an amazing class of third graders that are diverse with many different backgrounds and learning styles.
Every child is unique, but something that they all have in common is their enthusiasm and love for learning. I believe that children learn through play, and my students need something to play with at recess, that gets their bodies moving and gets them engaged with their peers. Recess is all about taking a brain break, socializing, and getting physical exercise. With the right recess equipment, my students can play, move their bodies, learn valuable problem solving skills, and improve social skills.
My Project
My students only get 3 short recesses a day. Many of them just sit on a bench during recess and are not out there moving or engaging in physical activity. I believe this is because of the limited recess equipment that they have access to. There are approximately 250 kids out on the playground during a recess, yet there are only 5 or 6 balls for students to play with.
Daily physical activity is a vital component of students' academic success !
The 6 playground balls will give the entire class an opportunity to play 4 square at the same time! Those same balls can also be used for wall ball or kickball. The soccer balls will keep students active on the field! The foam footballs will be very popular for my students who have recently taken an interest in learning how to play football. Recess and play is such an important part of student development and physical activity can increase students'success in the classroom.
