This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love how spirited my students are when they recognize their own improvements. This year, we have toiled through lessons in an English dominant speaking class with only 5 Spanish-speaking students. And in the midst of us growing in our understanding of each other, they have been supportive of their EL classmates.

This is why I would like to keep them with the basic supplies that they need, so they can be leaders among each other and in the school.

These basic supplies, including pencils, glue sticks and markers will replace our previous ones, along with access to additional online resources, because these students deserve it. We plan to utilize the pencils and paper to jot down ideas and practice sentence writing, continue enthusiastically using the glue sticks for art projects, and even have more circle times on a rug that’s big enough for all to share.
