Promoting Inquiry With Outdoor Tools

My students need outdoor cards for ideas about enriching activities to explore with outdoor experiences; mud, wind, and puddles. The sorting trays will support small groups of children to sort natural materials in different ways.

My Students

I have the pleasure of learning alongside 18 enthusiastic, energetic, caring and curious kindergarten children who care about each other and the world. We connect using Twitter and Kidblog. We engage with these platforms so we can have conversations and learn from others globally.

Our school is a fun and safe place to learn.

Kindergarten is a wonderful place to learn because we ask questions, make friends and explore what we are curious about. Learning is lots of fun in Kindergarten.

My Project

I chose to order a variety of wooden, sorting trays that all offer different ways for children to sort natural materials that we find outdoors. The wooden trays offer small groups of children to collaborate together about what they find and/or are curious about. The outdoor flip books will provide me and my students opportunities to engage with scientific ideas about natural materials we experience when outdoors.

I want to promote the love of observation and inquiry.

Young children need to have experoences outdoors and opportunities to interact with the natural world so they can develop an appreciation for nature.
