This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a diverse community full of excitement and eager to learn new things. A lot of my students have very few resources to support them at home, and this can be very discouraging for them at times. We pride ourselves as educators whose focus is on "Growth Mindset" and a environment that promotes "Social Emotional Learning".
My students are very eager to learn and always looking for new and innovative ways to do so.
We are looking for a great year of teaching and learning in the upcoming school year.
My Project
Creating a colorful organized area with flexible seating, in which we engage in small group collaboration will help to motivate my students to look forward to their time and help to foster a positive learning environment. The organizer chart will also help them to easily find their materials and give them a sense of responsibility.
Growth Mindset is a core value in our learning community and the ability to help students feel comfortable at where they are is a key component.
White boards will be used for guided practice while composition notebooks will also them to journal and keep track and make adjustments to the goals they made for the 2019 school year. The folders will be used to keep up with homework assignments and glue sticks and pencils are used daily in the the classroom.
Being a new teacher, starting from scratch, I realize that it takes a lot of things to build a learning environment that promotes positivity and reflection of a safe, friendly and welcoming space. I believe this project would help to boost and stimulate a setting that is conducive to learning
