Promoting a Love of Literacy Learning in the Classroom
My students need sets of novels, such as James and the Giant Peach, to provide literary enrichment experiences in the classroom. They also need quality and highly engaging picture books to promote reading skills.
We are a group of inquisitive students who enjoy working together in the classroom. We love gaining new knowledge using GLAD strategies in the classroom as we increase our academic vocabulary and improve our reading and writing skills. We also love practicing our organizational skills using AVID strategies in the classroom. This year, we’re also focusing on inquiry learning and levels of questioning!
To promote students’ reading skills and a love of literacy, I consistently share quality picture books and novels in our classroom.
Sharing quality literature with students promotes effective comprehension skills, students' ability to analyze text, and enhances students' vocabulary. Such literary experiences in the classroom also foster a love of literacy, as students become engaged in reading by making personal connections with the text. Picture books and novels also support social and emotional learning in the classroom.
Thank you! ❤️
My Project
Using highly engaging quality picture books and novels in the classroom promotes literacy learning for all students. These materials also provide students with the opportunity to become immersed in the experience of reading, encouraging a love of reading.
As students engage with quality literature, they are able to effectively analyze text, develop connections with characters, and discover universal themes such as kindness, perseverance, empathy, empowerment, and moral character.
Engaging picture books and novels provide students with unique learning experiences that support a passion for literacy, enhance vocabulary, and supports equity in the classroom as all readers engage with the text.
