My students are Latin students in grades 9-12 in a rural, high-need community. A high proportion of our students are minority students and come from families whose parents never completed college.
There are beautiful, free posters available to download at PromoteLatin.org. some of these posters are suitable for the classroom. Others would be great to put up in the school hallways both here and at our "feeder" middle school to encourage students to sign up for Latin. We have high-quality photographic paper available, but we need photo-quality ink for our printer in order to print up these posters.
Latin vocabulary and reading practice builds English reading and writing skills. It prepares students for terminology needed in a variety of college classes, especially medicine and law. By funding this project, you are encouraging my students to achieve their dreams of being successful college graduates and of being future doctors and lawyers. You are also encouraging students to try Latin who might not otherwise consider taking the subject.
These posters are visually beautiful and will enrich the classroom and two schools. By funding our project, you will make the Latin classroom an inviting space and will be encouraging students to give this challenging subject a try.
