Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students are just beginning to discovered books that capture their imaginations, but they do not have enough in the classroom for everyone to have one.
My students are very energetic and love learning.
They are constantly bombarding me with I wonders and did you knows while they are reading. They only thing holding them back from discovering even more is the sharing of books. My school currently has about 85% of our students on free or reduced lunch and we are a Title 1 school so money is tight all around. They are always asking to take their books back to the library but I hate to lose them for any amount of instructional time, they miss so much! I want them to have a bigger and better selection of books to choose from.
My Project
These books will not only give them a larger variety of books to pick from but will also give them fuel to ask more questions and become explorers in reading. The books we are hoping to get include fiction and nonfiction, math, science, and Sunshine State Books.
Each and every donation will get my students closer to our goal of starting our own class library.
They will be able to read to their hearts content and share their discoveries with their peers, family, and me.
