This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Everybody in this country should learn how to program a computer because it teaches you how to think.
Steve Jobs
My school is located in the community of South Central Los Angeles.
We are the home of the Lions where we always say, "Never, Never Give Up." I have 31 wonderful students that come to school ready to work and do their best. Our class logo is "Dedication - Hard Work." They come with a very diverse range of home structures: nuclear, single parent, foster and migrant, to name a few. My students love to be at school and enjoy learning, especially when the activities involve STEM. Many of them are already planning to become engineers, scientists, mathematicians, etc.
My Project
I want to make my class as technologically savvy as possible by the end of 5th grade. I would love for them to have first hand experience with creating technology based projects. An LCD projector will allow my students to easily share Keynotes presentations, web sites and other computer based projects with their peers. Presenting their own technology projects in this manner hits many of the Common Core Standards for 5th grade. My projector really doesn't work any more. I have been waiting from a new one for two years already.
This is your chance to help an amazing school with wonderful students!
Experience with technology one of the major keys to success in our modern society. A projector will allow my students to experience these things first hand. I will be able to teach my students technological skills that they will use for the rest of their lives.
