The school's neighborhood is diverse linguistically, culturally and socioeconomically. Some of the languages these students speak at home are Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Vietnamese, and Cape Verde Creole. Our school is a large K-8 school in the district.
In terms of English language development (ELD), students are beginners or intermediate and receive ESL services from me for support of their academic English in the domains of reading, listening, speaking, and writing.
I also provide special education services for students. Students in my classroom are English learners (ELs).
My Project
This project will my students to have access to the content with a projector. They will be able to see mentor texts and their peers' written work. This technology will positively support student learning including students on IEPs and English learners.
Also, this project will help my classroom to have enough materials to support ESL.
Specifically, I will be able to purchase dry erase markers, books, gel pens, and mechanical pencils for my classroom. This will allow students to be able to write and to use word to word dictionaries from their native into English in order to improve their writing.
