Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the most helpful, eager, and enthusiastic students I've ever encountered. I teach at a visual and performing arts magnet school so my students love to express themselves creatively.
I teach at a Title I school in Southern California, where most of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My school prides itself on excellence, despite its location in a low-income neighborhood. Students work hard and it shows! But, in order to cultivate their creativity and curiosity, my students need resources.
My Project
My classroom projector recently died, and my school does not have any functioning extras. I use my projector every single day for almost every subject - I use it to show science videos, to project my math lesson so students can see what I'm writing, to project portions of text for the entire class to read when I cannot afford to provide every student with a copy of the book, and for so much more. Without a new projector, I will be forced to dig out the old dusty 80s overhead that I've seen lurking in my school's supply room! Anybody have any transparency sheets and vis-a-vis markers I can borrow? ;)
An Epson BrightLink 536Wi Interactive Projector will aid in my ability to teach, and will also add an extra interactive layer to further engage students.
This projector is much fancier than our old dead one, and will allow students to write on it, and play interactive learning games. The most important feature is that it can be seen with the classroom lights on! With our old projector, we had to close all the blinds, the doors, and turn off every single light, in order to mostly see what was on the screen. A new projector will project my students into the future!
