I teach 7th grade Reading and Language Arts at Denham Springs Jr. High in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Our school registered 75 displaced students after hurricane Katrina, many of which are still with us.
I hope to obtain a LCD Projector for my classroom in order to enhance the quality of my instruction. Students' learning is increased with the use of technology, and I want to provide them with every opportunity to grow in their knowledge of literature and language arts.
Each student has a different learning style, and it is my job as their teacher to reach them in a way that increases their ability to learn. Visual learners benefit greatly when video clips, PowerPoint presentations, clip art, and photographs are used in instruction. Reading/writing, tactile, and movement learners benefit from being able to create their own projects on the computer and by presenting them to their peers. All of these positive experiences would be made possible by using a LCD Projector in the classroom.
The ‘old school' projectors and web T.V.'s are just not able to help my students to reach their full potential in the classroom due to the fact that they are cumbersome and have images that are simply hard to see in a classroom. The LCD Projector can give students a way to express themselves, and a way for me to teach them with meaningful materials that are easily displayed on a large projector screen.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
