Every morning I am greeted with wide-eyed 2nd graders who have a joy for learning. They love to explore and learn about the world around them. Being in a Title I school, it presents many unique challenges that other schools may not be presented with. With these challenges comes the opportunity to help my students grow at their own individual levels.
Living in a small, rural area, my students often lack the resources that other schools have easy access to.
Despite these and other challenges, my students show that they are excited to learn. When my students are at school they can be transported to a place that is safe, full of support and are excited to take risks.
My Project
Living in a rural community, technology is essential to help students connect to the world around them. Every day I turn on the projector, it opens a whole new world for my students, most of which have never been outside our small community. Unfortunately, due to funding, the projector currently in my classroom is very difficult to see. In order for students to experience interactive technology, all the lights need to be turned off. This makes it difficult to interact with and students are unable to see their papers to copy or manipulate new information being seen.
With the addition of this projector to my room, students will be able to interact with technology in a whole new way.
Rather than turning the lights off, we would be able to leave them on. This would allow students to move more easily and safely in the classroom when the projector is in use. It would also allow students to interact with our current e-beam which turns the white board into interactive technology where students can move and manipulate items on the projector.
