Help me give my students Epson Brightlink 695Wi Interactive-3LCD projector. This projector is cutting edge. I share a classroom with another teacher and the projector our room will broken and over 20 years old.
My students are intelligent and hard working. They are dreamers, builders and innovators. They are different in many ways and on the surface it may not seem that they have anything in common. But, they do.
These young men and women all want to work for a better tomorrow for them, their families and their communities.
I want to help them get there.
Research has shown that adapting a growth mindset can change a student's outlook from, "I can't" to "I will keep trying.” I want to use adaptive technology to help them see the rewards of perseverance and eventually success.
My Project
All of my students are applying to college, and many will be accepted to competitive schools all across the country. I want them to have the same college preparation as their peers in the more affluent districts. Technology has been a welcomed addition to mathematics classes as it brings a concrete understanding to abstract concepts. This gift will allow me to use the many applications and animated graphs to demonstrate the foundations of PreCalculus in a way that captivates my students. Currently, there is 1 projector on a wheeled cart that the 12 of us in the same corridor share. At times, it is difficult to reserve it in time for the lesson I want to project. This gift would allow me to plan my lessons while incorporating engaging presentations, applets, and animated graphs that my students will enjoy more regularly. The beauty of this gift is it will allow my students to achieve a deeper understanding of the lesson's objective.
This project will validate what I have always told my students-they are just as deserving of a college acceptance letter as their friends in the more affluent districts.
They deserve to be just as prepared. I want to make sure that they are, indeed.
