My students need the materials necessary to create STEM centers that support hands-on, project-based learning in their weekly STEM classes. WE need LEGO.
Salutations! Let me start by thanking you for taking the time to review our project! I teach in a small, rural, Title 1 school, where many of our students receive free and reduced lunch. We are a tight knit community, brought together by our commonalities and even more so, by our differences. It is here, in our school community that teachers and students work side by side to foster curiosity and a love of learning, regardless of ability or history.
My students are curious, creative, innovative thinkers, who crave authentic opportunities to grow and develop.
The greatest gift I can give students during the elementary years, is a driving curiosity, a belief in their abilities, a thirst for knowledge, and a passion to grow. With these skills in their toolbox, they will be equipped to tackle the challenges of higher education and the real world. No matter where their life journey takes them, investing in their education, is to invest in our future!
My Project
As a nation, our education industry has recognized a shortcoming in our students. We’ve fallen behind other industrialized countries in terms of STEM-related fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Not only does a STEM-focused education open students to new subjects, it also allows for different learning methodologies to be utilized. These materials, will help me infuse STEM into everyday lessons, which is extremely important for children at a young age, because it helps to foster critical thinking, collaboration, and hands-on engagement. We all know that when students are engaged, they learn! What's more, these engineering manipulatives are creative and adaptable, making them accessible to children of all levels of ability. This, fosters communal creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication not to mention, a great way to reduce classroom anxiety and stress. Above all, STEM infused classrooms make learning fun!
