My Students

My Kindergarten class is made up of a very diverse group. Many of these students have never been to public school or daycare. We are trying to work on socialization skills. In an effort to make this happen, I need to purchase an area rug for my classroom. I would like to use the rug for seating during circle time. Any help would be appreciated. I work at a Title 1 school. We have most of our students on free or reduced-price lunches. The students would be so excited to have a bright colorful rug to sit on during circle time.

My Project

Students will have their own space in which to sit. Disruptions during story time will be lessened and it will brighten up our classroom. The transition from small group to whole group will become more efficient due to assigned seating.

An ABC rug would also help students with recognizing their letters, both upper and lower case.

ABC games can also be played on the rug with the students being able to stand on the letters. The rug would just generally brighten our room and give the students a place to meet and learn with one another in their own beautiful space.
