Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from low income families. There are some who come from broken homes and others are teen parents. However, they are still determined to succeed. Much of their obstacles have been created by a lack of resources, stability, and support.
My students are tenacious, forward thinkers, who are more than willing to work hard in an effort to change the state of their current circumstances.
Many of their assignments are project based and we lack the resources to print in color which would enable them to see the tangible evidence of the manifestations of their visions.
My Project
The projector and screen will greatly increase the lessons that I am to present to my class. Many lessons that I believe would be beneficial to my students are accompanied by short videos of scenerios which make for great discussions. I often have to modify or in most cases choose a lesson of less rigor because of the lack of equipment.
My students are very visual, and have even expressed that they do not see themselves being successful because those examples do not exist in their trajectory.
I want to be able to give them visual examples of success, not just me reiterating verbally that they can make it and that success awaits them. We need a projector and viewing screen to have more interactive lessons with visual examples. With these resources we will we be able to assist our students on a greater level which will increase the growth potential of our students as well as program success.
