My students need to be provided with materials to complete assignments, assessments, and independent reading with the least amount of distractions and as much privacy as possible.
I have the pleasure of teaching fifty awesome 5th graders. Out of the fifty students, there is approximately an equal amount of girls and boys. They represent various backgrounds and economic groups. Among my students are several EL Learners who need modifications to reach their fullest potential. One hundred percent of them receive free/reduced meals and attend a public school in a rural, high poverty community in South Carolina.
With students reading on various reading levels, the goal is set to help each boy and girl under my instruction to become a critical reader and thinker.
My Project
By having the necessary tools to create an area of privacy, students will not have to worry about other students attempting to copy their responses or attempting to get their attention while completing their daily/weekly independent reading, assignments, or assessments.
All students deserve the right to perform at their highest levels without worrying about classroom distractions.
The privacy screens will help those who are easily distracted to eliminate many external factors that usually cause them to take their focus away from their work. Students will be more focused on their work. When students are focused, their grades will reflect it. The page protectors will be used during assignments and assessments using MasteryConnect. Students will be able to record the answers to theirs, scan their answers in, and receive immediate feedback and scores. The page protectors will allow them to reuse their bubble sheets instead of printing a new one for each task. The mouse requested will be connected to the main laptop where students will scan in their MasteryConnect sheets. Sometimes, students experience difficulties with selecting items using the keypad, so a mouse will help them to more accurately fix or select needed items in MasteryConnect.
