Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students usually have a specific learning disability and range from 1st grade to 5th grade. Some have other areas of difficulty besides learning. They are all amazing people who work hard to improve themselves everyday.
My students are mostly on the lower socioeconomic end of the ladder but have great hopes and dreams for a better future.
Many don't do well in school but have multiple mature responsibilities at home such as caring for younger siblings while parents work and preparing family meals.
My main hope for them is to show them Love and Respect and help them to get back on grade level in their academics. I definitely feel very privileged to work with them everyday
My Project
The difference that the materials and equipment will make are astronomical. The ability to keep them engaged is a struggle with the technology available to us in this day and age.
By sponsoring my classroom the students will gain resources that were not readily available before!
You would be helping my students succeed in ways you cannot imagine. The read along station and wide selection of books on various topics of interest will help my students discover a wide range of amazing information. It will encourage them to read more and help them to hear and see the words to make connections.
The tools that the phonetics material will supply will give my students an advantage to learn reading in fun creative and research based ways of learning.
Lastly, the yoga ball seating has been proven extremely effective in keeping students engaged.
