I teach in a school where we are excited about what we do. We are creative and critical thinkers. We take risks, we learn from our mistakes, and we celebrate our successes. We create an environment where learning is our number one priority.
We want to inspire our middle school students to be passionate readers and critical thinkers.
We want to build on our commonality; we are readers, thinkers, and learners. We want to come together as a Project Lit community.
My Project
Project Lit is a community of readers focused on culturally-relevant, high-quality literature. The goal is to promote a love of reading with teachers, students, and community members from all over the United States. We would like to start a Project Lit chapter to empower our own passionate readers. Eventually, we will engage in a service-learning project to help our students grow as citizens, leaders, and readers.
Not all of our students have the opportunity to purchase books to participate in a book club.
We want to inspire as many students as possible by having books available for everyone that is interested. Our plan is to read at least four books this school year: Ghost Boys, The First Rule of Punk, Dear Martin, and Wishtree.
