My students need construction paper, paints, pencils, glue sticks and other tools and materials to create projects that represent learning throughout the school year.
First graders are curious about everything! They have a zest for learning. Projects help children deepen their understanding of ideas and concepts. In order for us to create a variety of projects over the course of the school year we need an abundance and variety of craft supplies.
My students are from a high-poverty inner-city neighborhood.
The school is a public elementary school. My students our eager learners, they love to learn through songs, games, books and projects. Our class sizes tend to be large and last year I had 35 kindergartners. Good news, we are moving to first grade together. While we are all excited to be together again, there is a good chance the class size will be around 30 students. My students learn best by being actively engaged in their learning. Their beautiful little faces always light up when I announce, "we're doing a project".
My Project
These materials will bring curriculum to life. The projects my students create will help them deepen their learning and understanding of important curriculum content and concepts. While students plan and create their projects they enhance other important skills such as: organization, investigation, problem solving, collaboration and presentation skills. My students will be creating a variety of projects; graphic organizers, posters, puppets, mobiles, dioramas, books, and diagrams. These projects use an assortment of consumable materials. Our class needs all kinds and sizes of construction paper & card stock. In addition, we need glue sticks, craft sticks, stickers, poster crayons, pastels, water colors, markers and primary pencils. The assortment of mediums will encourage and excite students to get to work and be creative! The pencil sharpener will allow us to sharpen all sizes of pencils as we transition from primary to standard pencils. The whole punchers will help with book projects
Providing us with paper, glue sticks,craft & art materials enables my students to create projects that build responsibility and ownership of learning, enhancing skills and depth of knowledge.
