Project Heal my Library

Help me give my students a replenished library to check popular books out that have been lost and not returned during the pandemic.

My Students

A combination of junior 11th, and senior classes, 12th and Creative Writing. Total per year is around 300. Some changing in and out at the semester. Over the past two years students have borrowed/checked books out from my classroom library, and many have not returned them. It is my wish that I replace the most commonly checked out books according to interest by students. My kids love to read, but not to always return books.

My Project

Literature being a window to the world, especially to students struggling with connecting to the classroom, or the world they find theirselves in at the moment will be more readily available with options to read impactful stories of those who share their struggles. Making self to text, and text to world connections through the characters in the books I have ordered might allow students to see that they are not alone in struggling, and perhaps find inspiration and by default find that they are better equipped than they thought before reading these texts.
