This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Throughout my teaching career, I have always been interested in teaching first grade. Now that I am in a first grade classroom (that I was placed into 5 weeks after the school year began) I realize the extreme need for intensive reading instruction. I strive every day to provide that to my students.

My students come from government subsidized homes.

For most of them, school is the only safe and structured environment they know. I provide them with many supplies that their families simply aren't able to provide. Our school is currently a "turn around" school. Over 90% are on free/reduced lunch. With your donation, my students can used the districts educational software to improve their reading and math skills and get the specialized instruction they need daily. My students need this daily computer instructional time in order to meet the requirements to help our school make the needed changes.

My Project

With your donation of headphones, my students can hear the audio provided from the Success Maker program, and follow the directions more easily. Also, my students who are working elsewhere in the classroom will not be distracted by the noises coming from the computer speakers. My students can also use the attached microphones to read passages that I can later review to determine how well my students are progressing. My students are working hard to improve their reading levels this year, and your gift will surely make this possible.

My students strive to do their best every day. The educational software we use is on their individual level, and gives each student a chance to shine! You can make this possible by allowing them a set of headphones to make listening to the software's directions easier, and less disruptive to the rest of the class.
