Project Blast Off will be used to help students understand and experience the science of Rocketry through building and launching their own rockets. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the importance of the nature of force and motion through this experience. I teach all subjects in a fifth grade classroom at a Title I school where most of my students have never had the experience of seeing a rocket launched. The very idea of them actually being able to build and launch their own rockets would increase their desire to learn, as well as increase their thirst of knowledge for Science. I would like to have enough rocket kits for every student in my fifth grade class to be able to participate in this activity. I will need 24 kits for my students. I will also need a launch pad, a launch controller, and some extra rocket engines in case of problems at the time of launching.
