Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hard-working, bright, young individuals. They attend school each and every day, ready to learn, and meet all high expectations. My students love challenges and face difficulties each and every day with smiles on their faces. My students come from a Title I school with a high population of English learners. Most come from a low-income households and have limited resources and experiences. To many of my students, their only chance of life-enriching activities are at school. They love school, and I want to make this place the most enriching place for them!
My Project
I am ready to hit the ground running this upcoming school year with the project based learning environment in our flexible seating environment! It was an amazing adventure to see students focused, working through a common goal with their classmates. Project based learning and flexible seating options definitely go hand in hand in providing the right atmosphere for student learning and motivation. Students are free to explore, yet still motivated and engaged.
But all of these project based stations and flexible seating options for 34 sixth graders have made our room very crammed!
In order for students to fully focus on their projects without constantly struggling to maneuver around the classroom, we need some storage solutions to keep our belongings organized. IKEA storage frames, bins, and filing cabinets will keep student materials separated and organized. Each student will have a bin to keep their essential learning materials and designated space to access quickly if needed. Filing cabinets, which will also double as a standing table work space, will give students a designated space to work in and allow them ample space not to be crammed and cluttered with materials all over table tops.
Please help us kick off this new school year with new organizational furniture and keep my students learning, focused, and achieving all year long!
