Third Grade is a year of amazing growth for students. Students work diligently on learning their multiplication facts, writing detailed stories, and working on reading skills. All of this could not be possible without the support of community members and parents.
My class of 23 students is filled with many different personalities and backgrounds.
I have students of different cultures, as well as different beliefs. Our school is made up almost 400 students (25% which are free/reduced) who try to embody our 3 major school rules of being respectful, responsible, and safe. Every day, teachers encourage students to dream, believe, think, and achieve.
My Project
In our classroom, each core subject is taught using the workshop model. Each subject begins with a 10 minute lesson and then students are given independent work time. During this work time, students work on activities that are at their own level.
Technology is a great way to differentiate independent work and make it meaningful for each child.
In our classroom, we need 2 more iPads so that a small group can work on the same activity on his/her own iPad. The iPads will provide students with interactive activities at their levels and provide opportunities to learn the lesson objectives at their own pace. These iPads would allow students to create projects that they would be able to share with friends and families. The iPads would provide endless opportunities for my students to reach their fullest potential and would allow students to have meaningful learning experiences!
