This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious and love to learn new things. They love to help teach others.

My students are 2nd graders who are in the Dual Language program in Chicago.

They are learning to become bi-literate in two languages at the same time. They are part of a school community who values bilingualism and what students bring to the table.

My Project

Our classroom has been using the whiteboard or chart paper placed on the whiteboard to record our learning for our daily lessons. Many times, this does not allow for our thinking to be permanently recorded, because of how awkward it is to write on a vertical surface. Because of the lack of board space by the rug, students need an easel to be able to comfortably learn from their daily lessons. Students will also interact with the magnetic feature of the easel during our phonics instruction. This will greatly benefit their learning.

Because of your donation, students will be able to engage more in their learning by having a comfortable and easily accessible easel.

They will get the opportunity to demonstrate their thinking on both the whiteboard and anchor chart ring feature of the easel. Students will strengthen their phonics and reading skills to become bi-literate students.
