My Students

I have the pleasure of getting to work with an energetic, gregarious group of special needs students who found school work disengaging and difficult in their home school. My students were placed in my classroom because their behaviors continuously got them suspended and an alternate setting seemed more appropriate for them. These students benefit from a self-contained, stable environment which nurtures them to be the best they can be in a safe, no judgement zone.

The majority of my students are significantly below their actual grade level, in some cases up to 3 years delayed.

My students struggle with managing their emotions and self control. Having the tools needed to create calm spaces and coping skills are imperative for these students when they return to their home schools.

My Project

This kit will be used with multiple classes at Project ACCEPT in order to help make their learning and their ideas turn into 3D hands on shapes. Students will have to use their informational reading skills in order to be able to follow activity directions. They will have to use social skills in order to work together on projects. Measurements will utilize their math skills. It will just in general work towards a fully cross curriculum project based activity unit. These students would not have this opportunity at their home schools and they deserve the opportunity to bring out their inner scientists.
