This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My ESL students are incredible! I have a variety of students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and learning needs. All of my students are ELD level 1 and have recently joined our school district. These students have the unique challenge to learn both ELA and English in an inclusive classroom setting.
My kiddos are smart, funny, sweet, and love learning!
These students are working on their English language skills as well as their English Language Arts skills. The students are primarily focusing on phonics, phonemic awareness, and common vocabulary skills. Additionally these students are working on primary decoding skills, and reading comprehension strategies. Our school is located in Boston, MA.
My Project
I am asking for materials and supplies to create Word Work and Literacy centers for my ESL students. All of my students are ELD level 1's and have recently joined our school district. I am asking for these materials to better target and support my students individualized learning and academic needs. I am asking for are flash cards, to work on word recognition and word recall. White boards will be used to practice spelling and working on phonics drills. Classroom labels will be used to label our classroom in both English and Spanish to help with the language transition. Additionally I am asking for games, early readers, and flashcards to assist my students in their language development process. These supplies will be used in centers, small groups, whole groups, and independently. I am asking for flash cards with both English and Spanish translations to better assist my students English proficiency. I am also asking for white boards for students to practice writing their newly acquired vocabulary skills.
