My Students

Remember when you were a kid and you made something you were really proud of, all on your own? My students have the ideas, but not always the resources, to facilitate finished products that look professional and neat.

My students are in that transitional phase between elementary and middle school and are now starting to type a lot of assignments and independently use technology in order to give me their best, most professional work.

This is something I really encourage and when they start doing so independently, I want to help them really run with it.

My Project

I'm requesting a printer and ink cartridges because I want to encourage a couple of really important characteristics in my students. The first is being capable of using technology, which has obvious and long lasting advantages. The second is independent pride in workmanship which comes along with seeing their own writing, research projects, etc. in the form of professional looking, published pieces.

Especially for students in urban public schools like ours, who don't always have the resources to present polished final products, it's important that they feel that they have opportunities for, and support in, compiling the hard work they do and the skills and concepts they're learning into a finished product that they can be proud of!
