I have the most enthusiastic, eager to learn, amazing group of sixth-grade students. All fifty-eight of my students are excited about learning and curious about the world around us! Our middle school is blessed with a culturally rich student population. I learn from the students each and every day and am thankful I was selected to be their teacher.
My sixth-grade students are innovators, risk-takers, and active problem solvers who excel when given project-based learning opportunities that tap into their creativity, generosity, and understanding of others.
I know that many have faced difficult challenges in life, but they strive each day to overcome anything in their path. I am constantly impressed at how the families, students, and school staff work as a team whenever someone is in need. Our students constantly amaze me, and I look forward to each smile, each act of happiness and their desire to learn more!
My Project
The National Science Teaching Association is having their 7th annual Forum & Expo this summer. The 3 day conference is packed full of informational break out sessions on implementing STEM in the classroom, creating meaningful makers spaces, and engaging more female students into the field of STEM. Not only will I be able to listen and learn from highly regarded math and science teachers, but I will be engaged in hands-on science activities that challenge me to work through the same type of activities I am wanting my students to accomplish.
The NSTA conference would allow me to tap into hands-on engaging activities that I could immediately implement into my 6th grade Math and Science Classroom.
This project will make an incredible difference in my math and science classroom. I know that my students would benefit from my learning opportunity immediately and that it would impact my future students as I continue to improve and hone my instructional strategies.
