Help me give my students consumable painting supplies so that we can work together as a class while learning beginner to intermediate painting techniques.
We are an inner-city school with a high poverty rate and ethnically diverse population. My students are creative and spend their days not only attending core classes like Math, Science, and English, but a variety of art classes like Drama, Martial Arts, Guitar, and Photography.
Our school prepares students for college in an academically challenging, arts-integrated environment.
Not only are my students involved in extra-curricular activities, but they are also dedicated to their grades. Many stay at school until five or six pm, either in tutoring or attending a club meeting. My students are well rounded and participate in activities like volleyball, ballroom dance, basketball, cheerleading and a variety of clubs from Student Council to National Honor Society and everything in between.
My Project
In our classroom, we are lacking basic necessities that would allow us to work together as an entire class in order to learn and to practice painting techniques. The requested supplies would allow us to explore foundational painting skills like creating value scales and beginning color mixing.
These students are seeking experience in this area and are excited to get to work.
By providing mixed-media paper, canvas, palettes, and also helping us to acquire aprons for a classroom of students so that their school uniforms would be protected, your donation would help to ensure that we are able to continue painting.
