This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a first year teacher, teaching Visual Art at the K-5 level. I have on average 450 students that come to my classroom each week. My students are enthusiastic about art, and excited to experiment with materials! We collectively can't wait to make some amazing art this year.
My students come from many different homes and backgrounds, and have varying needs behaviorally.
One thing they ALL seem to have in common is their love of learning about art and creating it. I hope to provide them with some amazing opportunities to spread their wings and fly in the art room.
My Project
Please help my students with access to their own personal sketchbooks!
Students in my 4th and 5th grade visual art classes will be learning about the planning process for art projects, including pre-sketching and brainstorming ideas.
They can also use the sketchbooks to take notes, or sketch ideas sparked from lessons on contemporary art history.
Sketchbooks will not only give my students a place to sketch and work out their ideas, but will give them extra literary help when brainstorming ideas, answering questions about art pieces and concepts, and journaling about the process of making art; students will finally have their own place to reflect.
