Help me give my students jigsaw puzzles and puzzle accessories to build their problem-solving skills, while working together to collaborate and communicate effectively.
Kid President posed a great question when he asked students and teachers, "What are you teaching the world?" My classroom is a place where students are free to create, imagine, and share their ideas. We believe that everyone has something to teach the world, and our classroom is a place where that discovery happens.
My classroom is filled with 20 bright, energetic, inquisitive, and bold students.
I'm lucky to have such a diverse group of learners, with all different backgrounds, learning styles, and stories. They remind me every single day why I love my job!
My Project
When I first introduced a puzzle table into the classroom, I acquired just a few puzzles to get the kids started. I had no idea what a passion it would turn into for many of the kids! What I expected to just be a fun thing for kids to do during spare time, quickly became the most engaging, thought provoking, and populated part in our room.
The conversations I hear when the kids are working together on a puzzle amaze me.
It is evident that they're having fun and problem solving, all while huddled over a table and sorting pieces.
With these puzzles, students will continue to integrate the 4Cs into everyday learning. They will collaborate as a group to find the right pieces, while communicating effectively with one another. The puzzles will require critical thinking as they find just the right spot for that one piece they can't seem to land. Creativity will be sparked the moment they see their new puzzle in front of them and as they sort the pieces by color, shapes, and locations.
