My pre-k students are very diverse and come from a variety of backgrounds. Some of my students are limited English speakers, children from military families and some are economically disadvantaged. This is the first time most of the children have been in a school setting. My students have little experience with peers until they enter my class.
These energetic children enjoy my class and are very excited to come to school to learn.
They come in everyday with a smile ready for success.
My Project
My students come to school with limited experience with puzzles. These puzzles will provide opportunities for my students to problem solve using colors, pictures and shapes. We will use the floor puzzles in math centers, they will be used to encourage students to work cooperatively together to strategize and solve them. These puzzles fit into our units of study, as students solve them, the units of study will be reinforced. Students will learn to solve problems by manipulating pieces to fit into place. The wooden puzzles will provide opportunities for students to benefit through individual hands-on play. The large floor puzzles will provide enjoyment and a feeling of accomplishment as students work cooperatively to strive meet the their goal to complete each one. .
Puzzles provide young learners opportunities to strategize and reason through play.
My young students will exercise their minds as they are allowed to problem solve individually and with peers. The benefits of using puzzles in my class will develop thinkers of the future.
