My students need dry erase boards and markers during math instructional periods. Using these boards allows all students to be engaged in activities, and it allows me to assess students comprehension quickly and efficiently.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 5th grade math to students in East Harlem.
Every school year presents its challenges but one thing that is always consistent is having a group of students eager to learn.
I've found that each year, my students seem to enjoy math class the most in comparison to other subjects. They find my lessons and activities to be fun, engaging, and innovative.
Even when math gets difficult, my students always persevere and are always enthusiastic when it comes to helping a classmate.
My Project
Dry-erase boards and markers are extremely beneficial to a math classroom. Using these boards allows students to show/explain their mathematical thinking and allows me to see who's grasping concepts and who requires additional assistance. However, the boards I currently have in my classroom are small and disheveled. Students often find themselves having to take out loose-leaf paper for additional space which defeats the purpose of using the boards.
Receiving longer dry-erase boards will enable students to show all of their computations and explanations in one area, further allowing them to stay focused on their work rather than having to take out additional materials to do so.
